Surprise Guests

Additional Photos from our luncheon honoring Colleen Williams & Chuck Henry

NBC4-LA (KNBC) President and General Manager Steve Carlston poses with three of his "stars," honorees Chuck Henry and Colleen Williams, and dais guest, weatherman Fritz Coleman. Colleen and Chuck presented a video story about the PPB luncheon on Friday's four o'clock newscast during which the three on-air personalities commented on the great honor Colleen and Chuck received from PPB and how impressive the Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award is. On hand to celebrate her husband receiving the Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award was Kay Henry, left, and also Chuck's first Channel 4 co-anchor, Kelly Lange. Kelly was introduced as LA's first female primetime news co-anchor, and during the luncheon she recounted several anecdotes about the honorees. (David Keeler photo)

PPB President Chuck Street and NBC4-LA President and General Manager Steve Carlston congratulated legendary comedian and longtime PPB member Norm Crosby on his induction into PPB's Diamond Circle. As usual, Norm had the luncheon crowd in stitches with his well-placed malaprops and hilarious jokes. (David Keeler photo)

Thousand Oaks Library Services Director Steve Brogden (left) talked with PPB Past President Sam Lovullo before the Williams-Henry celebrity luncheon. Both are intimately involved with the re-location of PPB's archives to the future American Radio Archives in a new building to be located adjacent to the present Thousand Oaks Library. (Don King photo)

Famous radio personality and entertainment entrepreneur Rick Dees was on hand at the March 28th celebrity luncheon to salute Diamond Circle inductee Norm Crosby and NBC4-LA co-anchors Chuck Henry (right) and Colleen Williams. Dees, noted for his ability to ad-lib humor, did not disappoint the crowd who attended the luncheon. (David Keeler photo)

A standing ovation was given to Norm Crosby and to Colleen Williams and Chuck Henry at PPBs celebrity luncheon in the Sportsmen's Lodge Empire Ballroom. The honorees featured the event on their four o'clock Friday newscast expressing their appreciation for the honor. Chuck and Fritz commented on the impressive quality of the Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award, with Chuck telling of his boyhood fascination with microphones and TV cameras. Now, he said, he has two beautiful replicas on his award. (Don King photo)

PPB Board member Charles Cappleman introduced the broadcasting students and faculty members from Columbia College Hollywood, guests of Ralph Edwards Productions. According to their Website, Columbia College Hollywood in Tarzana is "the premier college for students who want a hands-on education in Film, Television and the Digital Arts." (David Keeler photo)

NBC4-LA's Fritz Coleman took off his weathercaster persona at the March 28 PPB celebrity luncheon and put on his standup comedian's robe to regale attendees with stories about PPB's two honored guests, Colleen Williams and Chuck Henry. In attendance at a front table were many of those who direct NBC4-LA's news gathering and on-air presentations. Later in the day, Chuck, Colleen and dais member Alex Calder had their hands full describing a very slow-moving police chase from Alex's helicopter view. And that evening, Chuck and Colleen reported several non-stop hours of La Habra earthquake coverage. It was a busy day for them! (David Keeler photo)
